First of Spring

  1. I haven't perfected tulips yet- one lonely white tulip after buying a few a couple of years ago. Any secrets? Do you lift your tulip bulbs over summer?

  2. Hi Hazel, thanks for your interest! Tulips are tricky! Of course I have only photographed my triumphs... Apparently they are one of the few bulbs that like lime. I also put the bulbs in the crisper for a few weeks before planting. I used to lift them but it's ok to leave them in the ground in Tassie as long as they don't get too much summer watering. I tend to buy a few new ones each autumn and hope for the best : ))

  3. I have tulips & other stuff popping up this year that I can't remember planting! Should have kept a diary.

  4. Isn't it lovely when things pop up out of nowhere. I didn't ever sow those giant sunflowers - they just arrived. Minnie starting barking at them when they one day showed their faces! How's the cafe garden Collette...
